Trip to the emergency room

Its been awhile since I’ve used Sunday as a relaxation day. So as I sit here on the couch watching the opening weekend of NFL I agonize in pain as half my body is remembering what it felt like to crash hard yesterday. A trip to the emergency room, a lot of lacerations and a bottle of Vicodin are all I remember from the weekend thrill ride. You ask how I got these? It all started off with a mountain bike ride down Morning Glory in San Luis Obispo. I don’t remember much of yesterday except the fact that I ended up in the emergency room with a concussion. I really have no recollection of the crash and slightly remember going to the hospital. Must have been a great wreck. Today has been equally as painful. I’m missing a big chunk of my knee, I can only lift my left arm shoulder height and my neck feels like crap. So this is what a concussion feels like. I hardly remember what happened yesterday. Must have been real fun. I’m off to get some rest and take some more Vicodin. Good times!

Photoshop fun

I decided to do a little touch up on one of the pictures I took down at the Amgen Tour finish. Spent about an hour masking in Photoshop with my Wacom tablet. I applied a motion blur effect to the bakcground as an added touch. Didn’t turn out too bad

So the Tour of California was rolling through San Luis Obispo again this year. I missed the finish last year because we had a meeting that went a little too long. So this year I decided to take a few hours off work to see the sprint at the finish line downtown. Thursday’s stage was a grueling 132 miles from Seaside to San Luis Obispo along Highway 1. Anyways we got down there early enough to stake out the hairpin turn before the mad dash to the finish. I was hoping to catch a pileup because it had rained most of the day. There was no crash unfortunately enough. Anyways check out the pictures from where we were standing.

2,000 mile milestone

So after 2 years on the road bike and numerous trips up and down the coast of California and one round trip of Lake Tahoe , I’ve manage to break the 2,000 mile milestone. I haven’t ridden a 20+ miler in a while so I decided to head south on Highway 1 today towards Nipomo. It was a perfect day for cycling (72 degrees). Its rained the past two weekends so I have been relegated to watching a lot of television lately. It was a nice break to get out and enjoy some sun for a few hours. Anyways, 41 miles in 3 hours ain’t bad. My muscles did cramp up on me on the return near Pismo Beach but it wasn’t that bad. I just cruisedÂ it home slowly from thereÂ Check out the odometer. Not bad eh!
