As the weekend looms into existence I ponder what it is that I’ll be doing these next few days off. My dislocated shoulder is still in the healing phase and my leg seems to still feel like a wooden peg. Captain Ahab can have his limp back. The first week has been rough. I’ve run out of Vicodin and my addiction for that loopy feeling is overcome by sprints of pain to my left shoulder. I still wake up in the middle of the night due to the shoulder discomfort. I guess it will be another week before I can actually start running again. No exercise for two weeks. Lame. I’ve probably put on about 5-10 lbs just from being a couch potato. Maybe I can squeeze a bike ride in this weekend if the gods are nice. Hopefully the road rash I got on my knee is not so uncomfortable that I can actually break a sweat doing something. The only exercise I’ve gotten in the last week has been going up and down the stairs which I vehemently have avoided. Worse comes to worse I can always read some of the books I have. Where are friends when I need them?

It’s day 5 of my post operative surgery. I keep thinking this is going to get better and I can finally eat some solid food. I thought the hour and half in surgery was bad. Nope. The recovery is equally as painful. I’ve still got a swollen cheek and it sort of looks like I have a golf ball in my mouth. I have to run for the bottle of Vicodin every few hours and I can’t sleep without going into a deep sweat. And to make it worse its about 85 degrees outside and I can’t do any physical activity until I get my stitches removed. I’m hoping this thing will heal by the end of next week before I fly out to China. It would be a bummer if I weren’t able to have Chinese food in China.
