Nike+ 100-mile marker

by tandurq on Jun.16, 2008, under Sports

Today I finally reached the 100 mile marker on my Nike+ First day back to the gym in about 2 months so I decided to run about 4 miles. Been doing a lot of pavement and trailwork lately so the treadmill has been a nice cruising pace. Anyways Nike.com decided to even give me a certificate for the achievement. A whopping 10 min/mile pace. A lot of that is walking to warm up and cooling down. I’m slow but not that slow :)

I Love my Nike+

by tandurq on Jan.08, 2008, under Sports, Toys

So Nike and Apple have teamed up for what is possibly one of the coolest ideas for personal training. The Nike+ kit allows your Nike+ shoe to talk to your iPod nano. The sensor wirelessly transfers this data to the receiver on your iPod nano. I’ve used it for a few runs at the gym and the device is great. With Itunes it syncs all your workout information to http://nikeplus.nike.com. There you can set goals, participate in challenges or just monitor what you’ve done so far. I took it a little further and found a Wordpress plugin that uses the Nike API to grab my run informations. You should see most of my runs off to the right. I’ll need to mess around with the code when I have some time to display my personal goals.

Game On

by tandurq on Oct.03, 2007, under Sports

I’m starting to get back into tennis. If anyone in San Luis Obispo is looking for someone to play against hit me up. Haven’t played in almost 2 years so I’m a little rusty. I can get my serves in though. Whatcha know bout that! I’ll be upgrading my paddle here soon probably to a Babolat Pure Drive Cortex. This is a major improvement from my 8 year old Prince Thunder :)

Welcome Back Baseball season

by tandurq on Mar.21, 2007, under Sports

So in anticipation of baseball season I decided to order my first set of tickets for the upcoming A’s season. Our first game will be a homestand against the much hated Yankees April 15th. We got bleacher seats like usual so hopefully a homerun ball will come our way. Bleacher prices have once again gone up this year to $12 up from $10 the previous year. With Ticketmaster fees and what not (Convenience Fee, Order processing fee, ticket printing fee) the price I payed was roughly $20 per ticket. What a useless piece of crap Ticketmaster is. If only I lived closer to the stadium to bypass these ridiculous online ticket prices.

It’s official. I hate Kobe Bryant

by tandurq on Nov.08, 2006, under Sports

I was watching the Lakers play the Timberwolves today and noticed that Kobe was not wearing his coveted number 8. After being dumbfounded for awhile I decided to search the Internet on why he was wearing a 24 jersey. To my own shock the reason he changed his number was to create more revenue for himself as if his $15 million a year contract was not enough for him. Those suckers that own a number 8 jersey will now have to fork out more money for his number 24 jersey. If you want to honor your hero Kobe Bryant make lots of room in your closet. The bottom line: Kobe will be rich and you’ll be poor. More accurately, Kobe will be more obscenely rich than he already is.
